The scene itself is whatever to me, but the documentary style intro tho! I think about the intro all the time!!!
They really try to make her performing with a trans woman seem like this groundbreaking progressive act and talk up how great Evil Angel has been when it comes to trans porn and how legendary Joey Silvera is. It feels forced, but I can't dispute any of it! Evil Angel does do the best mainstream trans porn! Joey Silvera is a trans porn legend! And in 2018 it was still kinda novel for a huge star like Angela White to perform with a trans woman! I mean it's only gotten more common since then and even today there are still tons of really prolific performers who haven't performed with trans woman (which at some point you have to assume is by choice)!
Then they actually meet up with Joey tho and Angela asks him...
Angela: Do you see some of the work you do as activism?
Joey: Lately a little bit more.
Angela: Because I feel like the work that you do is positive for the trans community. You're representing trans bodies as sexy.
Joey: I don't know. I actually went through a period where I said to myself, you know, these are girls. Instinctually from day one that's probably why, you know, I like what I do. They were girls and that was the bottom line. But then all of a sudden it hit me a couple years ago when everything was in the front and everything that like wow I'm hiring these girls, but I'm telling them to get hard and like is that an insult to some of them? Because for plenty of them it's not really what they're into maybe.
Angela: Yeah.
Joey: I don't know. Nobody's ever said to me like I'm insulted, but in my mind I thought about it.
And I really firmly remembered the scene hard cutting from that to Angela talking to the camera (while the "check out this silly billy" type music plays) saying like "Joey is a really interesting and intriguing character" to like discredit his concerns (because the scene they're about to shoot mostly centres around Chanel Santini getting hard and topping), but (upon rewatching it) really that cut away comes way earlier in their conversation (before they start talking about trans stuff at all), so maybe it was never meant to be related.
I'm a little disappointed that it didn't play out in the order I remembered tbh. I thought that (slightly fabricated series of events) was so funny. Still amusing even as it is tho!
I also feel like I should say that I do think it's fair to consider what he does a form of activism! It feels very plausible that I wouldn't have even transitioned when I did if it wasn't for his work! I definitely wouldn't have transitioned if it wasn't for trans porn overall! And his concerns are legit! It does suck that trans women are basically always expected to top in porn (I feel like Kink dot com has been especially bad about this and I end up basically never watching their trans porn because of it despite liking their cis porn)! But I also don't think Angela was doing anything wrong here! Everyone involved was doing good!
